The Money Advice Service (MAS) is an independent organisation set up to help people understand financial matters and manage their money better. MAS has a statutory responsibility for the co-ordination and enhancement of the quality of debt advice across the UK, in order to secure the best possible outcomes for clients receiving debt advice.

To support this objective and after an extensive period of consultation with a range of organisations across the debt advice sector, MAS have developed and implemented a Quality Framework against which both organisations and individuals are required to demonstrate their alignment against.  The Quality Framework is further supported by an independent Peer Review Scheme, which provides a mechanism for current specialist debt advisers to assess the quality of advice provided by their peers.

Recognising Excellence has been working with MAS since late 2013 and has recently been appointed as the sole assessment body in relation to the Quality Framework Assessment Accreditation Scheme. In April 2015 Recognising Excellence were successfully appointed as the preferred supplier and scheme administrator for Peer Review.
